AnyWay Strengthens its Commitment in the African Region

AnyWay Solid Environmental Solutions is expanding its activities and presence in Africa. It has recently opened an office in Ethiopia to furnish east Africa more effectively. The establishment of a local company serves to provide soil stabilization services to customers in the east African market, which has seen increased activity with contracts between AnyWay and the Addis Ababa City Road Authority (AACRA) for provision of stabilization services for an initial 5 projects throughout the city of Addis Ababa. AnyWay has been working on developing its position in the Ethiopian market for over 3 years and is aiming to expand its relations in this market to work with the Ethiopian Road Authority (ERA), amongst other regional stakeholders. The use of AnyWay’s soil stabilization solution has proven to save approximately 30% of the costs of currently applied road construction practices for treating black cotton soils.

AnyWay, together with its representative in Kenya, Concept Ltd, has completed a successful demonstration for the Kenyan Ministry of roads. The demonstration has been part of the program supported by the Ministry to identify alternative, more cost-effective solutions to the rural and main road networks that the country. The results have proven the effectiveness of AnyWay’s technology in treating local marginal soils, allowing them to be incorporated into the road pavement as sub-base and base layers. Stabilized material with ANSS that are constructed in combination with a surface seal create durable, sustainable roads.

AnyWay in the Kruger National Park

AnyWay in the Kruger National Park

AnyWay Solid Environmental Solutions was recently invited to construct two additional road trial sections in South Africa’s Kruger National Park. This follows trials done with ANSS on unsurfaced KNP roads under the supervision of the CSIR nearly two years ago. The results achieved on these earlier trials have been extremely satisfying and motivated the running of additional trials to further investigate the possibilities of maintaining the roads in the Park in an environmentally friendly way. The Kruger National Park is searching for a way to construct and maintain the roads using non-traditional, eco-friendly methods that do not place an additional burden upon their precious natural resources. The use of ANSS to stabilize and rehabilitate the roads by upgrading the in-situ soils offers these advantages for unsurfaced roads such as those within the park.

Environmental Motivation

Environmental Motivation

The driving force for using ANSS in a parking lot of the new National Park next to the Sea of Galilee was to minimize the environmental footprint of the project. AnyWay’s engineering team provided the project with a pavement design that included the stabilization of the local marginal soil. The savings to the project were significant from both the environmental impact and economics. About 8,000 tons of imported gravel and 500 tons of asphalt were saved and not imported to the site due to AnyWay’s technology. The savings in truck movements was also significant, as 42 trucks were used to import gravel to the site instead of 186 required for traditional methods. The work on the site took only 3 days.
