Rwanda Leverages AnyWay’s Expertise in Soil Stabilization and Road Rehabilitation

AnyWay Solid Environmental Solutions was invited by the Rwandan National Roads Authority to put on a seminar regarding advanced solutions in road pavement design based on soil stabilization and road rehabilitation. The event was held in Kigali in collaboration with Saba Engineering the Ethiopian consulting firm. AnyWay’s Director of Engineering Solutions, Alex Campbell, provided the attendees also with a review of work AnyWay carried out in Rwanda 6 years earlier, when the Komironko Road was rehabilitated and stabilized in collaboration with the Kigali City Administration.

PNG has extended Wabag project by additional 12 Km

The Department of Works & Implementation (DOW) of Papua New Guinea has extended the project of the Enga highway by additional 12 Km to be rehabilitated through AnyWay’s engineering design based on using AnyWay’s soil stabilizer, ANSS. This decision has been made as a result of achieving the engineering requirements set for the first section of the road. The project will connect the capitol of Enga province, Wabag, with the town of Wapemananda. Further extension of this rehabilitation project is considered. Further, DOW has decided to start the rehabilitation of a 20 Km section of the Highlands Highway using ANSS. Additional projects are also being evaluated for rehabilitation with AnyWay’s stabilization technology.

AnyWay technology in Papua New Guinea

AnyWay has signed an MOU with subsequent two agreements for the supply of its products and technical services with the Government of Papua New Guinea for the construction of 75 Km roads in the country. The first phase of the MOU is expected to start in December of 2011. AnyWay will provide technical assistance for the design and will also provide training for the technical staff of the Department Of Works & Implementation in the applications process and Quality Control procedures.

In an event for celebrating the completion of a few road projects with AnyWay Solid Environmental Solutions, Eng. Fekadu Haile, General Manager of The Addis Ababa City Roads Authority declared that the stabilization technology of AnyWay is the preferred solution for road projects especially those built on black cotton soils. Eng. Fekadu also said at the event that the AnyWay technology must become an integral part of road projects throughout Ethiopia. AnyWay CEO Mr. Zeevik Halber handed Eng. Fekadu a mosaic picture of AACRA’s logo made of thousands of pictures taken during the construction of the road projects.

The success of such projects has naturally led to further projects involving the joint efforts of AACRA’s professional personnel and AnyWay’s technical team. AnyWay’s Soil Stabilization technology is now being implemented in more of AACRA’s road projects, bringing the same economic savings and environmental advantages to these projects.

AnyWay Solid Environmental Solutions is expanding its activities and presence in Africa. It has recently opened an office in Ethiopia to furnish east Africa more effectively. The establishment of a local company serves to provide soil stabilization services to customers in the east African market, which has seen increased activity with contracts between AnyWay and the Addis Ababa City Road Authority (AACRA) for provision of stabilization services for an initial 5 projects throughout the city of Addis Ababa. AnyWay has been working on developing its position in the Ethiopian market for over 3 years and is aiming to expand its relations in this market to work with the Ethiopian Road Authority (ERA), amongst other regional stakeholders. The use of AnyWay’s soil stabilization solution has proven to save approximately 30% of the costs of currently applied road construction practices for treating black cotton soils.

AnyWay, together with its representative in Kenya, Concept Ltd, has completed a successful demonstration for the Kenyan Ministry of roads. The demonstration has been part of the program supported by the Ministry to identify alternative, more cost-effective solutions to the rural and main road networks that the country. The results have proven the effectiveness of AnyWay’s technology in treating local marginal soils, allowing them to be incorporated into the road pavement as sub-base and base layers. Stabilized material with ANSS that are constructed in combination with a surface seal create durable, sustainable roads.
